This Godforsaken Rock 0.7.4 (The 'Pew Pew' Update)


Hey all,

Today marks one month since I posted the original This Godforsaken Rock demo. I've been able to put out several updates since then, focusing on dramatically articulating the presentation of the intended TGFR experience. I'm currently on track to put out a polished version out by the end of February.

With this update, sound is officially in the game. I've never programmed with sound data, so please marvel at how it tragically fails at times. Yet I feel it does something to increase immersion a bit. Pew pew pew!

Notable changes with the arrival of 0.7.4:

- Gun shots, hits, misses, knife swings, shield up/down, button hovers and presses, and other sounds added to test out audio. It's very roughly implemented. Music and ambient sounds incoming. 

- Tweaked attack time duration to improve feel. Now there's the briefest pause on execution to do an attack, followed by a healthy delay before the next attack. This means it's much easier to track who is shooting who, especially on the enemy turn.

- Weapon stats available on the switch-to menu for easy attack/damage comparison.

- Buttons are now in the middle-right of the title screen, instead of stuck to the bottom, and their appearance matches the title screen aesthetic.

- Brief delay after last bandit vanquished, before mission is declared accomplished.

- Incorporated a terrain display optimization to improve performance.

- Text info that floats above creatures now spaced properly.

- Other surprises for you to discover.

Also I drew new boulders!


Looking at the tutorial system next. I'll put out another update and a new post when that happens.
